White lethium grease instead of copper grease

Hi everybody,

Is it possible to substitute copper grease by White lethium grease for jets threads? As I can't afford the first here in the country.

Hi Migwar, it depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Copper grease is a good anti-sieze agent on ferrous threads, and I think the theory of using copper grease on brass threads is more to cure (very slight) leaks than to prevent seizing.

What about graphite grease, used on guns, and some agricultural/plant machinery?

 

Oh thanks @Blackdog ,yes ,as you had described, the material is needed for the cure of very slight leaks (brass threads / small stove). If the graphite grease has the same characteristics/ function for this particular point, this will be a solution. If at all can be found here. I will look in the market.

Lithium will burn if used near the flame

 

Perhaps graphite from a pencil lead, made into powder and mixed with whatever grease you have available, will work.

 

Could you make your own with fine copper filings?

 

Will try to research the above ideas out. Quantities and dimensions I believe are key factors. I am afraid for graphite, it could harm the system sitting between threads or eating the brass under pressure. Thanks all
