This stove in my opinion is the finest propane stove ever built. First off is because it is in a standard 426 size case. The burner to the left side is a 15,000 btu burner that allows heating to a boil very quickly as compared to the 2 standard 10,000 btu burners. It is a tank, I have fried fish, boiled seafood and peanuts, large pots of spaghetti noodles. It is a beast of a stove and with the hose adapter, you can hook it to as large a propane bottle as you have..
@The Warrior , I have other brands as well, I some PW, and a couple AGM’S, but the majority of my collection is Coleman, it has been what is available thru out my geographical area. Which covers the mid south US.
@The Warrior , hey Brother, no offense taken, I enjoy a good banter as the next, with someone knowledgeable as much as the next man…
I just ordered a good condition one on Ebay. Super excited for it! Anything I should know about it, or extra parts I will need? It comes with the hose but your picture shows a regulator or something connected to it? I've been using a 426A for a while but the wife doesn't appreciate the art of using a old coleman white gas stove haha. On another note, do you have any suggestions on where to sell the 426A since I don't think I'll be using it much anymore.
There is also an bulk adapter attachment that allows you to plug it directly to a larger propane tank, this is the Craigslist ad for the one I ended up buying: You can also run it from a distribution tee: The 426A is a classic liquid-fueled stove, and not common. I makes me sad to hear someone say they're giving up the liquid fuel and going to propane. I only got the 5418 for the big family outings so that I didn't have to come running every time someone wanted to heat something. Otherwise, I use my liquid-fueled stoves, there's just something about them, even though propane is easier to use. Maybe it's why I always have at least one car with a manual transmission.
@Garrett Mason , there is an o-ring that goes into the fitting for the stove connection end of the hose, they will dry rot and break, so you may want to have a couple extra on hand, other wise that’s about all I have had issues with. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.
Can anyone tell me if the 5428 is indeed a low-pressure stove? I've got one that I'm hoping to Quick connect to my TT low-pressure port.
@MaineCamper , if you look in the photo I posted with the original post, you will see one of the hoses has the Coleman regulator for hooking up a Coleman bottle to it. So if you have the original hose it should have the original Coleman regulator on it already.
