    This stove was given to me by a friend in Melbourne - a very experienced back country skier - who bought it for skiing trips, but ended up not liking to use it "inside the tent". So, it joined me on a very long road trip around eastern Australia in May and June this year.

    I did not have to do any maintenance on the stove.

    My test that the burner is working well is no soot on the bottom of the kettle. It passed.

    Good Morning @Tony Press, A great Coleman single burner stove, i have the the Feather 400 and i like it very much probably better than the Coleman sportster533 , they have a good heat output and simple to use,

    Be very cautious about those rust spots on the bottom. my 422 was rusted out there but the rust appeared to have started inside the tank. Luckily the nz agent still had new fonts.
    How well does yours simmer. I know they can as I have seen other 422s simmering but both my 422 and 533 run at all or nothing and everything Ive tried didnt help

    @geeves

    There are two approximate speeds for this stove: flat out, and stop.

    Cheers

    I have a couple of NOS generators in my spares.

    I might give the current generator a clean, though, seeing the it works.

    Cheers

    Tony, in one of your pictures it appears that the tide has receded and left a submarine behind. The tugs are going to have the devil’s own time getting that out of there.

    I’ve got this stove to simmer by turning the fuel lever a little past straight down.

    Full speed.

    This is with the lever in the “Low” position.

    If you knew where that is, you'd realise just how much trouble the tugs would have getting that far inland :-)

    And as for refloating it ... the lack of a pressure hull could be a problem.

    Perhaps a bit like some stoves: a shelf queen now.

    Tony, on a more stove-related topic, does the 442 fit in a Mountain Cookset? I keep wondering whenever I see the leggy little stoves.

    Definitely at Holbrook. When you’re forced to drive the Hume Highway, that’s is the best place to stop to make coffee.

    @Scrambler

    I’ll check the 442 with a Mountain cookset in a few days.

    When you are see a submarine parked by the side of the road it’s always a good place to stop.

    A lot easier to get to than the other subs I saw at the heads of Prince Philip bay.
