What is best method to get rid of bad smell from inside of used propane tank which have had safety marker smell in it with gas? I'm going to ship vintage Swedish burner with proprietary tank, for shipping I had to remove burner from tanks, so it is not banned "closed pressure container". Now I cant get that horrid smell off from it. I have tried everything.. And it have been filled with various chemicals for months now. And whatever that odorant is what they used in 50's-60's?
Tried that (for weeks). It did take some edge off from that smell, but it still is impossible to be in the same room with this. I have tried also acetone, xylene, boiling water, kerosene, gasoline, vinegar, different acids, ozone, oven cleaner, different car cleaners, just to name few..
@asentaja , the oderant is ethyl mercaptan, use hydrogen peroxide to remove it from the tank. Ethanethiol - Wikipedia Murph
