    Hello,

waiting to receive a complete and nice Phoebus 30 bun feet traveler set like this one by @Doug L Phoebus N° 30 early bun foot I have repaired this other battered example that anyway is still a very nice stove.

It has a big number of dents, dings etcetera… when found was covered of an huge quantity of solder almost everywhere. The riser was stuck as hell and needed a lot of direct heat to unfreeze.

So I had to desolder basically everything (riser, pump, filler, some supports, reserve cap) and after removing the excess of solder I have put it back together.

The bun feet have been cut in my opinion (probably dented and so cut to have the stove level again).

Anyway, a stove that for sure had an hard and long life.

Unfortunately I don’t have photos of the as found conditions and of the fettle, it was a project I have been working on slowly.

Miracles are impossible, but this is the best I was able to do… all the tank deformations didn’t help during the soldering, so the final result can’t be much cleaner than this, at least for my abilities.

The jet probably is a little enlarged, but the flame is nice and very powerful. The burner was completely full of carbon, so a lot of work has been required to free it up.

    A short video:

    Cheers,

    Nicola

    Fantastic stove, nicely refurbished!

I think it may be wear on the feet by the way one is turned-in upon itself. The wear appears to be on the two feet in the direction of the pump stroke :-k
It may have been used/pumped on a stone or concrete surface for years, or slid in/out on same surface to cause the wear.

In any case, superb example!

    Alec.

@Rangie thanks! Your theory about the feet is interesting, it can surely be wear… I didn’t think about that because on 2 feet the cuts are really clean. But fascinating… :)

    Just for correct information:

the stove came with an Hipolito burner, I replaced it with a spare early Phoebus burner I had in my spares.

So the burner that you see shouldn’t be taken as 100% period correct reference.

This 30 stove doesn’t have the “Made in Austria” on tank top like on Doug example and the one showcased by @multi-cho with this photo:

On mine Made in Austria only on bottom plate.

    Hi @Nicola Francesco Elia,
Congratulations, it seems to be rare type Phoebus. An intristing solution of burner mount - no need to use wrench.

@Stanisław Grajewski thanks! Yes these early Phoebus are quite hard to find.

The burner can be installed without a wrench as you say, but the alcohol plate doesn’t help for a comfortable grip on the riser wings :) So once tight is not very easy to unscrew it ahah

Hi Nicola. This cool stove must have had a very interesting past. It looks like the previous owner beat it for disobedience (those dents) and at the same time could not do without it ( those repairs). And now, out of gratitude to the new owner, it smokes all the way (even too much)
    Greetings.
