Bought this a few days ago. After seeing the CCS-post whit the Primus No.1153 that @presscall have, I thought that I must have one like this. And a few days later one appeared on a buy and sell site here in Norway I think it is in a very good condition, but I wonder if the paintwork is original. It looks like this in many ways as the surface is the same everywhere, also inside. Then I also had to set up a suitable stove so I could complete it. The choice fell on a Primus No.1S:or with a silent burner and a fine trivet. I think this is a beautiful setup Flame shot The sureface close The surface inside The stove I complete the shelter with.
A great addition to your collection. It is fantastic when you use your Primus outdoors. Here is a picture of the sticker that sits on the inside of the door. Tom
Excellent score @Magne Fahre the shelter is in great condition with virtually all paint intact a little bit of rust which could easily be treated, i have not seen many of these shelters i my not sure its original, but could possibly be original
A great find, lovely condition and nice pairing with the No.1 S:or. The paint looks somewhat like the 'wrinkle finish', applied at elevated temperatures, used amongst other things on cameras, and vehicle dashboards in the 1960s to reduce glare.
@Magne Fahre Glad you were inspired by my posts on Primus shelters, since you’ll enjoy its usefulness as an accessory to continue to use your stove in adverse weather conditions, not to mention being able to carry it about in camp with the fold-down handle. Regarding the paint finish, ‘olive green’ was mentioned in catalogues, which your shelter’s paintwork seems to correspond to. Though I don’t recall a crinkle finish being mentioned, the catalogue coverage is a slender resource and a long production run surely resulted in alternative finishes, icluding a red/orange colour I’m aware of.
The most common finishes on 1153 seem to be either a wrinkly green or a semi-gloss alu-bronze greyish one while the red paint commonly seen on 1154 appear to have been used for some 1153's too.
