Lovely original condition, too. It seems to be putting out a good flame, mostly blue. So many of these furnaces worked hard and are discovered with jets badly worn oversize. Not exactly something I'd want to stand close to with the current heat we're having in the UK! Is there a date code on the bottom of the tank?

The No.744 is one of the series that Primus named the 'Intensive' furnaces. These were multi-burnered. The single burner furnaces were termed the 'Powerful'. They were used for a wide range of purposes in various industries, from medical institutions and laboratories to factories and building sites. Primus literature states 'widely used for geysers, surgical instrument sterilising etc..........purposes such as melting metal, heating rivets etc.' Geysers in this context being hot water cylinders for baths, the metal to be melted being lower melting point materials; lead, tin and precious metals.

Yes each burner is the equivalent of a No.1 stove. So this one is about 11kW. Makes for crispy bacon!

The 'O' means your No.744 was made in 1925. The exact meaning of '17' is unknown, most likely a production marking to identify which tooling the item was produced on. Primus are the only manufacturer to have left us with such a comprehensive date code sequence.
Hi @Benny29 . Your stove is burning very nicely. Did you have to work a lot to get it going? Those flames look like the nipples are perfect .The pressure must be fine too. I ask , because usually, after years, the seals, pump skin and NRV need some work. Congratulations. Greetings Stanisław
Hi! Thank you! I haven’t touched the burners them self, although they did take a bit of pressure and heat to clear. All I have changed is the fill cap seal, a new NRV. Thanks Benny
