Hi, just joined the forum. I'm aware of some of the British stove numbers, and wondered about the gaps in numbers. I've seen Boom Boom Boom Boom's post on British Military burners, and wonder if anyone has ever thrown together a pictorial guide of the different stoves used by the British military. As in a brief description, data, and a couple of pictures of each - and shared in a PDF? Boom Boom Boom Boom's post is at British Military Stoves Thanks
There hasn't no, not in any kind of entirety. But there are a few people here who should be able to assist with the project, a fair collective knowledge on this site. Have a pour over the site, I would also consider the likes of the Manual of Army Catering Services, Catering and Cooking for Field Forces, Joint Services Publication (JSP 404) Manual of Catering Services, and such. There's lots of little snippets in those. There are also colloquial terms used for some away from their official nomenclature. You are effectively covering the period between approx 1936 and the early 2000s, with the sea-change away from petrol-fuel to LPG/Diesel/Aviation fuel in the 80s and the subsequent scrapping or converting of stoves on-mass mainly due to that. Interesting topic. Alec.
Thanks I've thrown this document together as a starter, and pinched a few photos along the way. I hope people don't mind my using their photos. British Army Stoves.pdf What is cooker number 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11, please? Does anyone have any images or documents on these, or any documents on the listed cookers, please Thanks
Hi @Mark_Ellis Perhaps a British version of this excellent work? Liquid fuelled stoves of the Swedish Armed Forces Best Regards, Kerophile.
Apparently, there is an enthusiast who is putting something together as well as building his a collection. I'm sure it will be far more correct and detailed than my rough guide, as I was just wondering what the other numbers are. Does anyone know what Cooker number 8, 9, 10 and 11 is? I have edited the document since the earlier version though British Military Stoves.pdf
No.1 Burner was the Hydra. A pressurised petrol tank that projected a jet of flame along a pre dug trench covered by metal plates.
Where on the forum are the British Army AESP manuals uploaded to? Or if there aren't any, where should they be uploaded to, please? No 4 trailer No 4 Mark 2 cooker trailer 7360-J-100-S-W.pdf No 5 No 5 Cookset Mk5 document 7360-G-100-S-W.pdf
