    Hey All

    I got a Optimus 111B for Christmas!!

I knew it had some issues when Santa picket it up. Wondering if you could point me in the right direction.

The handle to adjust the fuel valve won't fit on the stem. I'm not sure if the handle is rounded out or if the valve stem is not right.

    I've included a few photos.

    Thanks!!!

Maybe squared end of the control spindle has been cut off for some reason?

Looks that backing nut is missing from the burner side. Maybe when nut has been difficult to remove and during that work control spindle has damaged also.

Part 2192 is control spindle and 2194 is packing nut in exploded view: Optimus 111 Hiker exploded view

In control spindle you can see squared end in exploded view.

The spindle control shaft should look like this:

    Note also the packing nut.

That that looks like the issue exactly.

Somehow that end piece got knocked off.

Where is the best place to buy that part?

    Thanks

Ebay, Basecamp in the UK. Maybe someone will post a link for what you need.

I think that you would need at least these parts (see exploded view Optimus 111 Hiker exploded view )

    -part 2192 control spindle
-part 2193 washer for graphite packing
    -part 2094 graphite packing
    -part 2194 packing nut

That exploded view is for kerosene version (111), but I believe that parts are same for gasoline version (111B). Some one who knows gasoline version more better than me should confirm that parts are same.

Just in case check that jet and cleaning needle are there and they are ok. Even if they are ok maybe it would be good idea to order them also as a spare for future needs. (Not to mention pump's leather cup, SRV and NRV pips&seals if your spares inventory already include those...)

I reckon the spindle has sheared off by over tightening or someone trying to remove it before taking the packing nut off look in the key he rest of it maybe jammed in there either way you need a new spindle and nut as suggested!
Good luck its hopefully a simple task removing the remains of the spindle from burner should not be too bad but go easy!
    Cheers Nick

Do you mean to run the stove or try to remove the control spindle?

Start soaking the threaded areas with penetrant , ATF , or similar now . If you can , clean the threads with a small wire brush such as a small caliber bore brush while the spindle is still in place . You could then file flats on the remaining spindle and try to remove with the control handle . If not the "bigger hammer " so to speak maybe vise grips or similar . Good luck in the endeavor .

e.g. here: base-camp.co.uk Time to time ebay also have them available but, base-camp.co.uk parts fit without problems. Ebay parts might sometimes have compatibility issues/problems.

Information about long discontinued stoves are the reason for this site.
When one learns how it works, and what parts do, one can learn what parts might be missing.
Where to get those parts becomes the job of the inquiring mind.
There are some places that might have an old part for sale, but generally we are dealing with the online auction to buy a needed part, hope it works, and hope we didn't pay too much.

    Welcome to CCS

The weakness of the 111B issues the ( NRV ) bid time, if you don't know it , you should read and learn about it. Your tank should be super clean in all time to be more safe and the NRV need a regular check-up and maybe rebuild every year if you used it a lot.
After your work on the valve, check that out and let us know what is going on there.
    Have fun!!!
