Coleman U.S. 976 cabin stove

    This was a full restore. Sandblasted and powder coated frame. Textured paint for the tank to hide dings. VHT paint on the burner and grates to hold back rust for awhile. Pressure gauge was not factory, but it had the bung, so I used it. All new stainless hardware similar to original.

    I love those cast iron burners; they show so well in the dark. Seems to me they give a better heat control for cooking than the direct flame of a more modern Coleman stove.

    I was looking at them from a casting standpoint. I wonder if they needed much cleaning up or “chipping and grinding” or whatever it is called. Bits of casting sand and flash and all that, how much of a painstaking process was that?
