Just got this 111B this morning. After changing the cap gasket and unsticking the NRV, it fired right up. I thought I heard it while it was running, but after shutting down it was very apparent. It was happening with the cap on or off. Literally sounded like someone taking a pee inside a jar. You may need to turn up your volume: https://photos.app.goo.gl/wU7eB3ChMV9Vp3zr9
Is there water or water vapor boiling away. How long have you ran it ? No basis for the theory, only guessing
Maybe fuel is boiling in fount or in tube that goes to burner? I have had same symptoms with 111 and 111T after I have burned kerosene so long time that fount has got quite hot. I assume that with gasoline it happens faster than with kerosene.
I have often perceived hot fuel boiling in these stoves. Whether that is the situation here I can't tell. I don't see it as a problem when it happens.
I need to check but it started almost immediately after preheat after I opened the valve, and continued for several minutes after I shut it down. No, there was no water present.
Well absence of wick was a fine theory, until I looked at the parts diagram. It uses a screen. Judging by the condition of the stove, I doubt it has been disassembled.
No idea. Again, this stove does not appear to have been taken apart. Unless it was a miss at the factory. I don't like pulling the valve on these stoves.
Silly me, I didn't realize that this version doesn't have the valve screwed directly into the tank, like on 8R, which I don't like to remove. Yes, the screen 2161 is in place.
Tried it again, this time paying more attention to timing. It started gurgling about half way through the preheat cycle, so at this point I can only assume that it is fuel boil.
Wouldn’t think enough preheat heat would be generated to cause the boiling. Wonder if something else like an obstruction, debris from manufacture process? Duane
Fired both of mine up, boils after shut down, one a little longer than the other. Ran for maybe 10 minutes, wide open. Duane
