How Green was my Valor

Tidying an old Valor Packaway. The windshield of my purchase was a solid cake of rust, now removed in a vinegar bath. The metal exposed shows traces of black paint. There are some
impressed words , Valor in capitals both sides and the patent number 4572.
In the Scottish mountaineers museum site there is an unused Packaway illustrated . The windshield is coloured a rather seasick green shade. I suppose Valor had lots of this paint in their big factory as it was used freely on their wick heaters ( over 2 million of these were made according to a brochure about the company) . Question: what sort of paint should be used now and how to match the colour?

 

@David Burnett 4572 is the part no and was used on 2 different windshields see this May 1948 Valor 55 with pressed steel legs I wonder if your stove is a Packaway or a 51c (collapsible) and what is the difference?

The windshield on my stove is the castellated one. I thought PT stood for patent but now your correction clarifies the situation. The filler cap is very ingenious with its tiny spring mechanism.The Packaway shown by the Scottish mountaineering museum looks identical to mine.I have failed in two attempts to get the Packaways offered with their tins at auction.The well informed curator at the Scottish museum makes the point that Valor arrived late on the camp stove scene, starting production in the 1940s when paraffin was declining. They came up with a winner with the Packaway and its popularity seems not to have
diminished among enthusiasts.

 

I think I've answered my own question and a 51C has 51C stamped on the tank.

 

Further research shows that later models had a decal with 51C on it so if that's missing back to square one, how do you know if it's a Packaway or a 51C?

Maybe you would be interested in this rusty suitcase I just imported
from Australia. Inside it was an Aladdin two burner camping stove much bruised from the Outback which is now with Mike in Peterborough. I am trying to derusted the box meanwhile. Have tried
Vinegar, salt and lemon juice, wire wool and oil , not with great results so far.
