This is my Basford No. 4 camp stove, found in Australia. The instructions that were with the stove are here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/basford-no-4-camp-stove-instructions.48908/ Control handle for the secondary burner. "Hugo Mfg Co Duluth Minn/Basford Camp Stove". Up and running Alcohol was used to preheat. With the second burner on. As it came Red paint over black and brown. "4" Paint removed by electrolysis. Some necessary panel beating. Some post fettle solder repair needed to be done on the fuel line join to the tank. Plenty of wet carbon felt was involved. I replaced the asbestos in the preheater basin with adhesive fibreglass. From the Instructions This is a nice little two burner gasoline stove. Cheers Tony @StanDahl
I thought I'd never get to the end of the photos. Great restoration though. Any idea when it was manufactured? Ben
@z1ulike Looking at the information in another thread here (below) manufacture would have been the 1920s. In the thread below, there are photos of another Australian Basford No. 4 that belongs to Matty Purtell: Basford #5 & 6 stoves Cheers Tony
I love seeing very old stoves brought back to life. Nice job. What power supply did you use for the electrolysis bath? I’m thinking of converting an old computer power supply but I’m not sure how it’ll hold up.
@Duck I have used 12 Volt batteries in the past, but I now use an old homemade battery charger. Cheers Tony
