I was playing with my 123r tonight to make a cuppa after giving her a bit of a rub down Anyway I was thinking, would a lid help her boil faster, so I made one out of a foil dish... Rough n ready.. Anyway boil times without the lid.. Refilled and lid fitted.. There is a tiny difference 2 min 04 no lid 1min 47 with lid Flame pics!!
That's some MacGuyver grade improvement right there. A lid surely helps a lot to improve boiling times. Could recommend testing out a pot with heat-exchanger too which reduces the time even more. My choice for my Svea is the (Optimus Terra Weekend HE) where the stove will fit inside the pot, but there are probably a lot more equally suited pots to choose between that have heat exchangers. Anyways, great job and great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Your idea of a makeshift pot lid appeals to me. For example , during a trip on a cold day you use an aluminum/foil food tray to make a lid, in order to minimize energy loss when cooking on SVEA.
You have created a functional lid. The handle seems to be treated to keep it from getting hot, which is a nice touch. A while back in Japan, it was popular to make your own lids like this. It is made from a case of hand cream called Nivea. 1月23日はスベアの日
Hello Camp numao That is a beautiful video I will watch it with captions on later. A SILENT 123r... amazing
A former member here developed a silent burner that was later copied. A few here have some of the original hand made caps. They are well made and work amazingly well. Not really surprising if you know the skills of the maker.
There are some clever people on here! I have a firemaple cup coming, but will make a tidy lid or use a nivea lid or similar for solo trips
