Hello team. I just purchased a primus no 5 stove that came with a 155r heater assembly and a regulator style burner. Im confused as the no 5 is copper not brass . Can anyone ahed light on this ? I need to rebuild the no 5 but did git the heater assembly to my other no 5 just for fun
@Ross Hayes Hello Ross most of primus heaters and stoves/heaters combo were delivered with 3 reflector options: polished brass, polished aluminum and polished copper. So basically yours is known as 155R/3 Nicola
Do you mean the stove itself (the tank/fount) is made of copper, or the reflector is made of copper? Tony
Hi im sorry i shojld have explained better. My reflector is polished brass .i was meaning the tank /font on the stove is copper. Thanks
@Ross Hayes Very often brass tanks do become a rich, brown copper colour with age. And sometimes they take on this appearance after being cleaned with acidic solutions and some of the zinc leaches from the copper. Most likely it's a brass stove which has taken on a copper appearance?
I reckon it’s brass… If you really want to be sure, find a discrete spot and scratch it with a sharp point. Tony
Yes, brass. The copper content is made prominent when it’s been exposed to mild acidic or alkaline solutions in the past. Too long a soak in citric acid solution or the use of proprietory cleaning substances with ammonia in them (Brasso’s one) does that. John
Thanks for the information team.should still look pretty sharp when all cleaned up nice and fingers crossed it runs well to
