I just purchased a primus no 5 stove that came with a 155r heater assembly and a regulator style burner.

@Ross Hayes Hello Ross most of primus heaters and stoves/heaters combo were delivered with 3 reflector options: polished brass, polished aluminum and polished copper.

So basically yours is known as 155R/3

Do you mean the stove itself (the tank/fount) is made of copper, or the reflector is made of copper?

@Ross Hayes Very often brass tanks do become a rich, brown copper colour with age. And sometimes they take on this appearance after being cleaned with acidic solutions and some of the zinc leaches from the copper.

Most likely it's a brass stove which has taken on a copper appearance?

    I reckon it’s brass…

If you really want to be sure, find a discrete spot and scratch it with a sharp point.

Yes, brass. The copper content is made prominent when it’s been exposed to mild acidic or alkaline solutions in the past. Too long a soak in citric acid solution or the use of proprietory cleaning substances with ammonia in them (Brasso’s one) does that.
