This is a unknown date SIGG fuel bottle 1 liter size. Pretty dinged up, bottom is bulged out, but the inside is clean and it seals for the most part. Includes a spigot cap allowing for pouring which is held on by paracord. If this thing could speak i wonder the trips it would describe.
do you guys know a good replacement for the gasket? its round but square, not exactly an O ring. The cap gasket is profoundly dented in and must be tightened to the max. Of course the spout cap has little to no use compared and is less deformed.
Unklegubzy, Fettle box have seals for Sigg bottles. I have a red one that I have used for over forty years. If it could talk, it would tell stories of fear, danger, humour, happiness and enjoyment of the outdoors.
I think the plastic lids were introduced in the early 1980s. The earlier ones are aluminum with a steel bail, like this one I got in about 1970. ....Arch
@unklegubzy a 1" o-ring will work as Sigg cap seal. Those spigot caps a very handy. Yes, wish my stuff could talk too.
Arch: I bought a red, one liter Sigg bottle with a plastic top in late 1970 at Wilderness Equipment in Houston, Texas. I also bought the spout top and tied them together with a 1/2" webbing loop, so I wouldn't lose the pouring spout. Still have them.
Awesome thanks i have a harbor freight viton o ring kit. Knew itd come in handy! stretched it a bit and it slips on for a snug fit.
I didn't know you could get the spout tops! Would have made my younger life a bit easier...cold hands and all!! We live and learn.
