I bought this last year at Newark from Trevors (Shagratork) collection. A great momento of a great man. It will be the main stove for outdoor cooking on our campervan trips. For now I've left the patina of the stove, tin & accessories as they were. It only needed a washer kit to get it going. It had its first run out at this years Newark Gathering.
What finer tribute than keeping it out there camping. Those tins really capture something of the '60s, the wacky font, the simplistic images modern for the time- quite the contrast to pre and early-post war tin decoration.
Nice stoves and this one with sentiment too. The tin and filler bottle look in good order. Pizzas look excellent also.
A great well made Stove Ross i have one my self, its nice owning a stove that belonged to a friend or family especially one to remember some one by
I have three Valors now , but not so far a Packaway. Each of these three has a different filler cap. They seem to be well made solid stoves, but as usual there are problems with the pumping and only one stove is fully operational ( and lovely to use). As a non expert fettler I have not ventured to take out the NRVs and fix them, which I’m sure could be easily done by many competent club members. In the description of your Packaway at Newark you mention that it only needed washers replacing to come back to full operation. Please could you explain where to put these washers? Filler cap I understand. Burner not so easy Dave
I will put a new washer as you indicate, thanks. My best Valor has a silent burner fitted. I don’t know if that is original or a later add on. It works well and boils rapidly. Hoping to get a Packaway soon before being packed away myself….
The Valour Packaway was originally a roarer burner. The Valor 55 was a silent burner. I think (I don't have one myself) the Valor 51 was a roarer burner. I believe the washer is in much the same place whether the burner is a roarer or a silent burner
Delay caused by journey to Cornwall. My Valor is the 55 model. Apart from slight hesitancy at the pump, it goes really well and I think it is one of the best paraffin stoves to be had. I must get an expert inspection of the pump action. I need to learn how to adjust the NRV.
