    Hi guys,

Sorry, maybe I am being simple.. but I can't find a way to close my account / delete my profile.

    Can someone help me, please?

As an aside, my old Nova Brunton with it's pump mods is still going strong!!

    Thanks

    Just stop posting and viewing.

    Curious why.

The forum is great, as are the people, but I am not a regular user, so for my own personal reasons I would like to have my account closed and profile erased.

I am surprised there is no obvious way to achieve that to be honest...

This is usually a place for sharing and receiving information and images of stoves. It was not intended to be self managed, so that the information, and images, are there for tge next person.

By all means keep the threads I created, but remove my name, ID, nationality and any other identifiable information. There is no reason for this forum/site to retain that information, is there?

With respect, I do not wish to discuss the matter any further. I would either like my account closed, or my profile to be made blank, with my email address removed from this sites database.

I am not sure if you are in the wind up or not? I am starting to think this is looking very suspicious. I simply want to have my account removed, as I have personally identifiable information, which was shared at the time of registration. I no longer use the forum and I therefore do not want that information sitting on this website, which at any stage could be exploited. It is a ridiculous risk to take, for anyone. My request is therefore both logical, and reasonable. I should not have to explain this in a forum about stoves, saying it was for personal reasons should be enough.

Are you able to tell me if there are any forum moderators, or admins please?

Nevermind the Barbara remark. Drinking and typing do not mix well.

actually an interesting question. I just had a look at my profile to see myself. It does appear to be possible to remove contact details thus invalidating any useful information. It is also possible to report the profile which will bring it to the attention of the admins. Robbo55 has already tagged this post to the site owner so this should happen in due course now anyway. Good luck with whatever your future endeavors are.

Privacy rules Im guessing. Sometimes they can be a pain to sit on when you are trying to make things happen but they exist for a reason. They can be different in many countries as well just to complicate things more. Basically anyone should be able to check and correct anything a website holds on them or if the needs must delete the record completely. Also these days it has become reasonable to know how and where your info is used. Looking at this sites privacy statement it does not comply in NZ not that I really care. The question though is often being sure the private info isnt being sold to all and sundry. The site makes money from google adds but do you know if google receives "alan geeves posted this" or member x5hsr67 posted it or 2137 members interacted with this post. Under NZ law at least all could be legal as long as the sites privacy statement makes it clear this is happening. Also do we know if site info is being share with the arsonistsrus site?
Maybe a minor tweak is needed

    All well and good.

Just wondered what was “very suspicious” about the benign and sensible suggestion of a regular member, before a
moderator had even time to see and respond to the inquiry.

But then I suppose that “very suspicious” says it all…

Ed, his comment was right after this.

He was impatient, but was not getting his concern addressed. 4 years of silence, then a need to resolve it immediately.
I figured that since he posted in this section it would be only a matter of time before the mods addressed it.

I can’t fault anyone for being careful with their personal data! On this site I feel my info is safe. Safer than with anything from Google or the other big social media groups certainly.
