I have put this under the Great Britain section as although Sun Flame is/was a USA company (New Jersey) I can find no reference to them ever producing this stove in the USA. I have not been able to find any images of this stove elsewhere but I am sure with the extensive knowledge of people here someone will know a bit more about it. This was in almost unfired condition as the burner was still bright on the inside when I got it. I did fire it up and it runs well although after 70 years it now leaks from around the pre-heater cup (which does not surprise me at all). Probably a couple of new washers is all that is needed.
Nice to see that logo (more usually seen on a rare Sun Flame lantern globe) in full colour on a stove. A regulating burner is a refinement on a stove of that pattern, with a pressed steel frame, such as the Parasene and RM … John
O.K so my one looks like a Parasene 600, with a control valve, branded as Sun Flame. That would explain why no such stove was made in the USA. I am glad there are some similar ones around as now I don't feel guilty about firing it up!!
@David Cully Welcome David and that does look a nice find! A quick search unearthed the decommissioning plan for S F Appliances Limited's Illinois mantle plant, which states that it was a subsidiary of Valor International of London. With this UK connection, I guess it is the same firm as your stove!
I have seen some early Valor style single burners labelled Sun Flame on the founts and I suspect that this was a different Sun Flame as the logo on the above stove is the exclusive logo for Sunflame Appliances Ltd., Ridgefield, New Jersey which operated in the U.K. between 1951 and 1958 under the Marshall Plan. I think that this stove is a rebranding operation of a Parasene 600 style stove.
