Has anyone made a (removable?) Plug for the T25/27 gas cutout?....

I thought it spoils the look of a meths burning Trangia base a little bit, plus I wonder about the effect of a large hole on airflow/windproofness? A neat light plug would be nice?

I haven’t made anything, but I use rubber plugs or bungs intended for sealing holes in car bodywork. I bought a set from an automotive store.

I do not seal up the large hole since I use my 25’s and 27’s with one multi fuel burner or another and usually utilize the opening for a control lever or a fuel line.
This base has been adapted for an Optimus Explorer 11 and this burner can’t utilize the original small hole for the fue line, so I have plugged this one with a rubber plug.

Maybe this can give you some ideas?

    Kind regards

The older style bases - before the hole you want to plug was added in the mid 1980s - had a larger area of small holes.

The air access is pretty carefully considered in these- I wouldn’t stress about closing the large hole.

Make sure you read up on the air access. You do know that in most situations you point the openings into the wind? It's only heavy wind where you use it as a windshield. Normally it's a wind-scoop.
