Hi All Having just aquired a Mk2 stove,on arrival I have cleaned it up & checked the washers, NRV etc On firing up i have this problem which appears to be caused by a cut in the burner unit where the jet goes. What is the consiered opinoion as to effect the best repair (other than gettting a new / replacement burner )
I encountered a similar problem with my first Optimus 111. A new jet fixed it. A smear of copper grease on the existing jet might do the trick as well. -R
Braze or silver soldering would be the best fix but also the most difficult. Filling the cut with muffler putty or stove cement could make an effective repair. Fill it with the nipple in place to form a thread then remove the nipple so it doesn't stick and heat the area to cure the repair.
Somehow I missed the last picture. I’m surprised you are not seeing more than that small flame. Neither copper grease nor a new jet will fix that. Repairing that is beyond my limited experience. -R
Thanks for the replys so far, with regards infilling with silver solder / braze could it be totally filled with solder or would a small insert of brass be better? Regrds JB
Fitting a piece of brass that matches the 'hole' would be optimal. I would suggest learning how to silver solder first. Practice soldering pieces of brass several times to practice. You do not want to learn while soldering this piece. This is not simple solder, but a much higher temperature. Then being able to rethread the fix.
Thanks for the respose, i'll source some brass from some old cartrige cases(rims) as they look to be a similar size/thickness and do some practice
