Hi all, Recently I got a fully functional Cooker No.2 Modified. She was working fine until the jet got clogged. Upon closer inspection, there doesn't seem to be any 'pricker' wire for the inbuilt pricker. Is it possible, if I have the correct size wire, to fit a new one? Also, there the flame surges quite frequently. Is this anything to be concerned with? I have a seal kit on its way, so if it's due to the seals, I'll see then. Many thanks, HG
You mean install a length of wire into the pricker rack? Yes, if you have the skill. Otherwise, buy a new Optimus-compatible pricker rack. Surging is likely to be due to insufficient priming. Methylated spirit in the spirit cup is preferable to the fuel in the tank. Just to confirm, you’re using the correct fuel (Coleman or Aspen 4) and not paraffin? Incidentally, replacing seals is best done before attempting to light a stove, particularly one using a volatile fuel. John
Thanks, I will look into getting a new pricker rack. Also, I am using Coleman fuel so that shouldn't be an issue. Perhaps a tad more methylated spirit for preheating is in order. HG
Hi all, I've been having issues with my British Army No.2 Stove. Currently, when I start the stove, initially, it runs perfectly fine. But now, even with fresh fuel, after a few minutes, the flame starts to dwindle, even if I open the valve more. The fuel cap seal has been replaced. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated, HG (a video of this issue can be watched on YouTube using the link)
