My Champion SVEA 123R-clone leaks through the SRV. The cap seems to be the same size as the Svea cap (I can swap them & the stove works) but the pentagon hole is completly buggered up. Any suggestion on how to get the SRV apart so I can see if the parts interchange? Thanks,
Put it on stove tank. Get it hot. Use a piece of leather to pad some channel lock pliers or whatever you have to keep cap from turning. Turn hex.
Well, I tried all that except the heat, and stripped out the hex too. Used a quality 10mm 6 point socket.
I would try the heat and if you have a small piece of leather to grab it with so not to mar it. In the past I have held the one part in the vise with leather and grabbed the other after applying heat. Ended up slightly crushing the inner part but straightened it out and cut a slot for a screwdriver.
I tried an EZ-out as the hole was already buggered up, no luck. I will look for one of the GraBits, seems like a better design. I'm pretty resigned to replacing the cap at this point so there isn't much to lose.
@Ziradog I know exactly what you mean...at this point its war (something I say to myself when I have come up on similar situations. Looks like this one is really similar..
