I would go to West Frankfort, Johnston City, Ziegler, etc, while in the area. My son and I used to camp at Rend Lake.
Oh yeah! I used to camp at Rend Lake every summer, that was before I got married of course, nearly 40 years ago. Wife doesn't like to sleep in a tent.
My wife and I used to camp at Rend Lake at least once per year, but since I've had my cabin for the last ten years, we kind of stopped camping.
Finally took this stove to leave at the cabin. Was going to bring my KampKook LCS-21 home. Although the 425 worked great at home on the first and only fire up, the neoprene pump cup didn't work at all in the cold. The cold made it shrink. Gonna buy the leather kit for it.
I don’t think that’s enough Bacon. Be sure to follow the one (1) pound increments rule when cooking with Coleman!
Looks good. Still working off my own Sunday Brunch on a tailgate sized CharGriller propane BBQ with a ceramic griddle on top. 3 strips of thick bacon 1 jumbo beef hot dog, split in half A 3 x 3 chunk of old steak [shoe leather] 1 Plantain, split in 4 planks and fried 1 egg and 1 shotglass of egg white. A dismally failed experiment with a new silicone egg ring. The egg whites slipped under the rim and fell off the griddle, The egg misbehaved too, but I ate it all. Cup of black coffee [No pix] Last week, I fried a beef tenderloin with a bacon rim, some carrots and polenta slices in olive oil on top of my 425. Worked well after being ignored for a year, but it's a gas guzzler compared to the MSR Whisperlite, my newest vintage toy. I have two 425s. A 1980 and a 1987. The Tank from the '80 works good. Can't find the later tank/generator assembly. I bought a Stansport Propane Adapter, and was using that on a long hose to a 20# tank, but now the adapter isn't working. Both my 413s need tank/generator work too. One 413 tank is a rust bucket.
Looks good man! I have a small collection of coleman stoves and have one like this but not as nice. I have a cast iron griddle that fits over it perfectly and its easy to do pancakes etc. Even with the array of stoves I have, when the wife and I go to yosemite I will take a 413 or a 425
