A friend picked up this galvanized Punker for me quite cheaply on FB marketplace. It was advertised as working, and it does after a fashion but it surges badly. Based on some searches here I started to clean it up and remove the brush in the fuel pre-heating tube-thingy. Also, there was no brush. Other posts mention using a brass bore cleaning brush for a .410 shot gun or brash pot scrubbing pad coarser than steel wool. Assuming I can find either of those in brass (or stainless steel?), how long/how much of the straight tube should they occupy and should they favor the tank end or the burner end? For the scrubbie, how tightly should it be packed in?It's not very clear to me what this brush is supposed to do, and from the previous posts it doesn't sound like I am alone in my confusion. Thanks for any/all help.
It stops the surging. I would experiment, seems when I had mine, I pushed the brush all the ways to the front, away from the tank. Duane
It looks like the bore brushes available online are pretty short, and have a threaded end. Do you leave it intact & push it in? Thanks. (picture from internet)
