Comet Scout 6

Hello,

after a long period without adding much to the gallery, I’d like to start (a series of many new fantastic additions) with a stove that fortunately returns in my collection (my first was mistakenly sold).

Not much to say about the well known Comet 6. To note a probably custom made windshield and alcohol bottle, I have to say well done!

The stove burns beautifully!

Nice sore! A fine looking example.

 

A brand I'm unlikely to own an example of, so it's always nice when others post photos of theirs to be enjoyed! That tin design is an absolute classic- so evocative!

Such a clever and attractive design, what a shame they didn't sell more.

Nice stove indeed And so nice to have a tin with the graphics nice and clear (both of mine are totally obliterated lol). The windshield looks like a cut down late Optimus 00 piece, but neatly done and looking very much at home

 

@igh371 thanks Ian, yes the windshield is probably made by 111 burner windshield, the big brother of 00

Great stove. Beautiful restoration. I've always admired the Comet Scout 5 and 6. The type was taken along on Shackleton's longboat journey for rescue in the James Caird. I think he borrowed it from Frank Hurley, the expedition photographer.

I'm really drawn to the beautiful and functional shape of this stove's components.

Unfortunately, the Comets I've seen are always very expensive, so I've only seen them online.
I'd like to see the real thing someday.
