Testing a Korean Silent Burner on Svea 123

The setting I've got it on now seems to be fine for that stove with multiple starts; and for two other Svea 123Rs I tried it on.

I've used it on a 123 but not sure whether it was the same setting or not. I'll do some more fiddling around as I've got a Svea 123 that I'm finishing fettling. I'll post pics here.

I will also try it on a few other bell-burners as well.

Very ingenious the flame pattern is very similar to the soto muka stove, which Doc Mark has a few vids on youtube.

I admire all these Korean stoves and attachments they have especially the heater attachments

I use the bernie dawg one on my 123R in the morning when others are sleeping nearby. It works great for that. I have tried it (the BD cap) on my 8R and found it to be more finicky on the 8R by acting like it wants a more solid pre-heat. Since the korean cap is adjustable it may be what I'm looking for on an 8R stove for making early morning coffee too. Thanks for sharing.

 

Interesting... Silent cap on @mbond ebay link has an adjustment screw to get it running properly on different stoves. Maybe point where adjustment screw's bottom is changes the flow of fuel&air mix inside the cap and it will effect combustion. Looks that guy who has made the burner cap has done some testing/research how to get cap running well.

I ended up getting rid of that silent cap, the screw was too far out and fell out a few times.

I use a PolarDawg cap now on the Hexon

Ive never gotten an underburn on that iWalker G43S cap. Still cheap too and no need to adjust it.

I got my silent cap from RocknFire in Korea via Etsy yesterday and immediately tried it on my 8R. After only a little adjustment, we were off to the races! Function was proven by coffee moments later. I would recommend it to anyone considering one for this application.

 

I tried a similar damper on my Dragonfly. It didn't turn out that great. I constantly had to adjust the screw in de middle to get to burn properly and after a while the complete damper fell apart. It wasn't not welded or brazed, but clamped.
They did let me return it and I got my money back. But all in all not very good experience.

Yours @Tony Press seem to fare better.

 

Mine has arrived here it is on the svea 123. The burner bell has the earlier style lip or ring inside, the silent burner just sits on it. It is not particularly snug. I got some underburn until I cleaned our the jet nozzle with the cleaning needle. Nice burn, with very little sound at all. Overall happy. Thanks for the link!
