I have 2 of these heaters and have fixed this problem. I wrapped the guide with cotton cloth soaked in Hoppes #9 powder solvent. This loosened the gunk. Then I took Tide detergent and boiling hot water and melted the gunk out of the tank. I polished the guide with red Turtle Wax cutting polish, then fine turtle wax cutting compound until it was smooth and polished. Washed the tank with alcohol and have had no problems since. I hope that you get your Blue Flame working because these are wonderful heaters. I heat my home with one and bake with my Coleman oven on my heater all the time. If you have any questions I would be happy to share what has worked for me on these wonderful heaters.
use wire wool with some fairy liquid on it. wash out the tank with hot water and fairy liquid and leave it to dry out also if you use some wet and dry emery paper your new wick will go on easier. good luck HERES MINE
