I'm more than happy to get the parts I need for my 123R from Base Camp and FettleBox (glad to have those options). I just don't get why the spare parts kit (#8016526) is so darn hard to find in the US. OK, I haven't taken my 123R apart yet, so I'm not sure what I need, but I want to be prepared. The spare parts kit is "currently unavailable" at the US Amazon site. There's no way to buy it from US Katadyn site. Campsaver/Optics Planet shows it in stock, but reviews say they're a sketchy outfit. I don't even know if the US Katadyn distributors (like Bass Pro, Cabella's, etc) can special order it (I don't have a distributor close to me). There are a few places in Canada that have it Amazon, Canadian Outdoor Equipment, Adventure Gear (Adventure Gear shows it out of stock). Amazon.ca won't ship to the US, but Canadian Outdoor will. Any thoughts?
@BBhiker I purchased a repair kit earlier this month for my SVEA 123R through Amazon UK which was supplied via Amazon in the U.S. and received just over a week later. This Amazon UK link is listing the repair kit as still being available to order (at least as of today). Amazon.co.uk Interestingly, there is a label on the box which appears to confirm the repair kit originally came from Krakow, Poland. Pharael
Thanks. When I click on that link, this is what I got: "Deliver to United States. This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location." BUT, since it said it was sold and shipped from Amazon US, I thought I would just change the .co.uk to .com. Guess what? NOW it shows up as in stock on the exact same Amazon.com URL I posted (and checked not 3 hours ago, and also checked several times over the past month and it was always "unavailable" every time I looked). The odds of ever needing anything other than a fuel cap gasket are so low I wouldn’t worry about it. If you simply just have to have it to feed your OCD, look on eBay, they have a constant selection of stoves, parts, and the repair kits show up regularly from time to time.
Yeah, I wish I'd waited just one more day before I asked. Who knew 3 hours after I said it was unavailable at Amazon that it would be in stock again. It wasn't available for weeks and then right after I ask, it's available again I was willing to try Optics Planet...glad to hear you guys had good luck with them. The Svea 123 is rock solid, I've had mine for years and I even bought it used way back then. No, I've never changed any gaskets, so I'm sure they are due. And yes, I was going to start with the fuel cap and PIP/SRV gaskets before I did anything else. (yeah, I guess maybe I'm a little OCD ) My 123R runs pretty well (some chugging, more chugging than in some of the videos of good 123's running). I'm thinking about getting another used one from eBay, just so I could get a Sweden one. Thanks everyone for the help, this is a great forum.
There is nothing 'OCD' about replacing consumble components with a limited lifespan on a presure vessel full of flammable liquid attached to a source of heat and open flame, which is used in close proximity to the body.
