@Remus1956 mine came without the NRV when I found it like two years ago. Remus, does yours pump up well?? Mine was really poor till I figured out the little Oring on the shaft...

It should be the same as the one in the fuel cap. I'll measure it .. Maybe it can be subbed for another one

 

@Majicwrench it's not the best but by what I can tell it's not the type that has a little oring. The end of the shaft is tapered

Got it back to work but sadly the treads where the burner screw in are damaged and doesn’t conduct heat to the valve in an efficient manner that means after a bit I get flare ups until cools downs and have a big fire

And this is after 30 minutes and a large coffee pot of cold water.
Not bad at all. Never had the spider leg type pot stand...I think I like the other types more... Easier to get back in the box

 

lye dissolves your skin.then you feel it ,like a burn. but it's similar to sulphuric acid ,that dehydrates the flesh.different way but same result. in Romania you can buy lye flakes by the 2 kg bag up to a full euro pallet... tons if you want,nobody asks questions.as long as you pay up :-)
for rust removal hydrocloric acid works wonders fast.especially if you help it by periodically (10-20 minutes) brush it scrub the part. concentrated acid might give you a rush on normal skin and a burn on open wounds/cuts if you have any.
ideally a dry ice blast will save you from all that trouble! sand blasting strips some base metal too.so not ideal.

@Gabriel Lorin I have basically 4 magic tricks for doing clean up on these stoves, electrolysis...citric acid...chemical paint stripper...and the least used is my neanderthal skills with a wire wheel. You are not the first person to mention lye...yeah I am going to have to try it out for sure! Curious as to how my hands will like it haha...I have all sorts of little scratches from working with my hands all the time.
