I was thinking of buying a 1.5l fuel bottle for white gas, because then we would only need 1 bottle for the hike. Specifically this Primus Fuel Bottle 1.5 l | Fuel bottles | Varuste.net English. But then I got concerned that will the hand pump handle that much liquid volume. Has anyone done anything similar? Did it work?
When I purchased a 1.0l Primus bottle a couple of years ago it came with a small length (about 10cm) of tubing which I presume was to lengthen the fuel pickup to enable the pump to reach further into the bottle. I’ve never fitted a pump on the bottle so can’t say if it worked or not. -R
I'd stick with two bottles if you think you need that much fuel for a long trip. I will often take a 1 L and (what I think is) a 0.6 L bottle on canoe trips. When the 1 L runs out I have a good idea of how fast the fuel is been used. Also it just seems like good insurance.
