I picked up a well used EX yesterday. Mostly because I wanted to test the XJ jet on kerosene and the price was good. But the fuel line is loose, I can swing it around, unlike my other EX which has a stiff joint (see blue ring on picture). Is there any point of testing it? It is damaged, right?
@Espen Lothe The heat required to silver solder the joint would destroy the rubber inner tube of the flexi-hose. Separation of the joint and installing a new length of flexi hose might be possible, though I’ve no idea what serves as a hose barb on the connector. Maybe an MSR spare part or parts are called for?
Thanks @presscall ! I found a new complete fuel line at a reasonable price from the Norwegian MSR importer, lets see how this ends...
That's a crimp sleeve around the hose and could be crimped tighter with the right tools (which are also needed to install a new one). That said, looseness suggests that the hose material has shrunk or deteriorated and replacement is a better idea.
The seller accepted to return it. Best solution for me. But curious: how common is this kind of fault?
