@Remus1956 OK, I miss this one, but have the 5B, campus 4, campus 3 and campus 2, but Campus 1 are missing. I just wonder, could it be more than a note at my wishlist? Skauvill
I was watching too, but you got it. Congratulations! I found out that the stove is traveling around the world among the CCS members. Is this a gasoline stove? I thought that the type without a pump could only burn gasoline, but an acquaintance of mine told me that this type without a pump can also burn kerosene. I'm surprised.
@Camp numao I’ve never been so brave to try kerosene with 5b (having different 5 with pump), but would be interesting to test Nicola
@Nicola Francesco Elia There are several stoves that can use kerosene if they are preheated sufficiently, but I didn't know of any stoves that could use kerosene with self-pressurization, so I was surprised when an acquaintance told me about them. So it seems that stoves usually use gasoline. Thank you for letting me know.
@Camp numao well, I have demonstrated that Rex stove can self pressurize, as well the Pyro Patent can… the Auto Optimus 8 as well, and they run all on kerosene. For my experience the Campus 5b (and 5) have a great heat generated pressure and the metal rods used as wick surely partecipate in this. So for me what you say is possible and I will experiment myself too It’s without any doubt very useful having a pump, in any case and with any fuel, so for the kerosene Campus 5 the pump is an useful addition to start with an higher pressure a stove that is supposed to use a less volatile fuel. Nicola
Additionally, I love the 5b, without pump, because it performs greatly as it had a pump, but with one less (and often principal) possible leaking point (pump NRV)… so a powerful and also safe stove to use with gasoline. Nicola
@Nicola Francesco Elia @Camp numao another weird thing I discovered with this campus 5 is that it has the same threads on the tank cap as the Optimus/Primus/Svea... Makes sense... But I initially thought if I had trouble in really cold weather with it (we will take this to Yosemite in early spring and fall right before winter) is that a 8r minutes pump and cap does fit on it just perfect. As Nicola said I soon discovered that it really does not need it as you can feel the tank warming up in the center really fast .. surprised me how easy it was to prime with denatured alcohol and how it went to a nice roar from a light candle in a few minutes. I added a wick which I now think is not needed. I'll probably keep the wick though just so fuel doesn't spill but you can actually hear the fuel warming up Can't imagine needing a pump on it... It really gets going well.
