I have a new Primus OmniLite Ti on its way to me. I have various camp stoves but none that were truly multi-fuel beyond a couple duel fuel Colemans.

I've read praise and complaints about this stove prior to ordering. It seems that most of the complaints likely come down to leftover debris from manufacturing, and keeping the fuel, jets, etc. clean. Is it advisable to break the stove down and clean it before I ever think about lighting it?

I also plan to buy the Primus OEM silencer for the stove. I've read complaints on that, but then also found a comment that there was an "earlier design" and a "later design". Is anyone having problems with the Primus silencer that I would be buying new in 2025?

I have also read about the mod to replace the priming pad with a Webasto 40mm burner screen. I will plan on doing that. Is there anything else I should have on my radar to ensure a pleasurable owner experience?

    Thanks!

I bought the OEM silencer but switched to a Bernie Dawg silent cap for my Ti which in my opinion, has better performance. This BD cap is manufactured by iMaterialise (link is below).
However, Bernie Dawg has confirmed that IMaterialise will be ceasing production of anything which is required to include steel. And so anyone who wishes to purchase any BD cap from iMaterialise, must place their order by 28/05/2025. After then, no further orders for BD caps will be accepted.
Here’s the link to the Ti silent cap at iMaterialise…{no longer available]

Primus Stovepaw for additional stove stability

I use Webasto mesh pads on these types of stove, Optimus Polaris etc as the preferred (very long-lasting) priming pad.

Thanks for the info Pharael! When you say the BernieDawg performs better, can you elaborate? I read that there are fans of both silencers, but not much on direct comparisons. You are the first I've seen who has both.

I have the OEM Primus silent burner. It works quite well, but be aware of underburn at lower heat settings.

In addition to what @SimonFoxxx correctly points out, in my opinion the BD cap simmer performance is better and can also be used with kerosene/paraffin whereas the Primus Silencer can only use white gas or LP gas.

My experience with silent burners is that all of them work best at full power, and all are prone to underburn at lower settings, some more than others. The Optimus 199 stove being an example.

My experience with BD caps is that they are very stable at lower heat settings.

I just acquired the mesh pad. Any advice on how to poke/cut a clean hole to mount it in the stove?

    Thanks!

I used my pillar drill to drill the hole, but a standard hand drill will do the job just as well.

Interesting. And using a standard twist drill bit cuts a clean hole, or does it mangle it a bit?

the residue inside the hose can be cleaned out when you use the stove first time, but with LPgas inverted position.
I did it for all my recent primus stoves Ti *2ea., Onmifuel.
Without this job, the jet (the smaller one for kero) is so easily clogged when the stove is very brand new, but with LP jet (the bigger one) is not.

Thanks for the info everyone! I did elect to go with the Primus quiet burner. I figured that I would be using white gas or isobutane most of the time. I need to burn something else, I'll deal with the noise.

Drilling the stainless mesh pad worked surprisingly well.

I held off on buying the Stove Paw base. I'm not typically camping anywhere that I can't get to some solid ground or assemble rocks.
