Clarification on seal placement Enders Baby 9063

Working on my fairly recently acquired Enders Baby. I obtained a new seal for the pump tube based on the recommendation of another forum member. I am confused on exactly where it goes.
It looks like it should go underneath the pump tube between to tube lip and the fount. See picture #1. However, when I took it apart there was no seal there but there was an old seal in the pump tube cap above it (which I have dug out as it was brittle). See picture #2.
It makes sense that it would go where indicated in picture #1. Did the previous owner put seal in wrong place?

The ring seal should be fitted on the tube and seated against the tube’s lip, as you have indicated in picture #1.

Also, the link doesn’t open for me. Not sure if there is more there or not.

 

@Pharael is 100% correct. A good practice is that every once in a while take the pump out and gently take the pump out of the tube just so they don't fuse together like that.

The gasket for a 3 piece Coleman fuel cap is a perfect fit. Old Coleman parts has them

Just installed the seal. Yes indeed, the Coleman 3-piece cap seal fit perfectly. The only difference is that it’s a tad thinner. I was able to get the old one out with a pick in one piece (although it split) to compare.

Successful fettle, first fire today! All of the seals/pips have been replaced. Original pump cup in good shape and re-used. Thanks to all for the input helping me get this stove up and running!
