    One of my local outdoor retailers was having a sale. I went in for some replacement hiking socks and left with a stove.
    It's an Optimus Svea 123r. They've changed the packaging on the box to a more retro one. The build quality doesn't seem as refined as an older one with the edges feeling a bit sharper than my older ones. The cup is also just a loose fit rather than a snug fit and the chain is chunkier.
    It works well though. Seems to have plenty of power and that lovely jet engine sound.

    @gnome

    You have captured the essence of a 123R with that last picture- what a stunning flame shot!

    Thank you for these excellent photos, particularly the ones looking inside the windscreen toward the burner, as I’d never seen a good view of the horizontal disc-shaped heat shield.

    Great photos! Thanks!
    Does it indicate country of manufacture anywhere on the box? Perhaps on the bottom?!

    @SimonFoxxx it was at the Further Faster sale. It wasn’t hugely discounted but it made it a reasonable price to me.

    I wonder if Optimus got tired of pursuing patent claims against Stansport, Fire-Lite and PakCook, and just started contracting thru them?

    Is this the first time that the 123R designation has appeared on the box?

    I think it is. The 'modern' 123 was always advertised as the Optimus SVEA as far as I know.
