Hi Here are some images of an interesting Hipolito No. 2 , 2 pint collapsible stove.

This is a compact, powerful, silent burner stove with some nice features. The feet are simple but attractive and I particularly like the engraving on the tank.

On the side of this tank it says, in three languages, " Specially Manufactured for Arab Countries and Tropical Territories"

I have two identical Hipolitos with this message. One came from Wigan, Greater Manchester, the other from the Barras, in the East End of Glasgow!........ No Comment.

I have an almost identical Hipolito 2 stove which I bought from the USA. The only difference I can discern is that the above message has been omitted.

I have some fixed leg Hipolito 2 stoves as well but their legs are less attractive.

    Regards,
    Kerophile.

I have this stove, with the difference that it is an adjustable silent, and it has an extra-large spirit cup for priming while used with diesel. It was sold by Force 10 of British Columbia as an Hipolito modified for use with diesel, as a marine stove. The only mod I can see is in fact the spirit cup.
This stove is a kitchen workhorse of mine; at least when I get in one of those moods for a few days to use a keroburner indoors, I use this stove and/or a 1 3/4 pint Buflam silent.
The Hipo seahorse and shamrock graphics are very fine in my 'umble opinion.
There are a lot of different 2-pint Hipos out there that go by the #2 model designation, including roarers, and those with fixed legs and "ordinary" feet.
I too like the feet on these and indeed it is these that convince me, at least provisionally, that that new stove at Basecamp is in fact a Hipolito, or perhaps more likely, the product of someone with the Hipo tooling. There was supposed to be someone out there who had it "in the garage", per Mike Vaughn, and Force 10, several years ago.

Hi Ed, here is a similar stove fitted with a Patria Regulated burner. This burner is made in Portugal. What is (was) the relationship between Hipolito and Patria?

Alas, I don't know the relationship between Patria and Hipolito. I'm aware of the Patria burners, and when I talked to people at Force 10 about 3 years ago they then had new Patria burners in stock after a long absence, but then these too apparently went away.
My "investigations" have been entirely desultory and not really deserving of the name, but still it has interested me that there seems so little information available about Hipolito and its aftermath, considering that it was very actively manufacturing up til recently (ie, 1999).
It seems to me long ago that it was Mike Vaughn who told me (though it may have been someone at Force 10) that there were expectations/hopes that Hipolito would resume production, and that employees of the company had retained the tooling and were trying to put something together. The more I think about it, the more I think it was Force 10.
I'm just guessing that in fact this has come to pass in one form or another, and Mike's "European" stove, that also shows other places, is the result. The tank and feet are a pretty strong clue. Who's making the burners? As Basecamp's site implies, these stoves are being made in limited quantities to order.
As Rick says, the Hipo 2s are nice-looking stoves, and high quality. One thing about them is that they are different than the Swedish graphics, while retaining most features of the Swedish designs. And they are nicer graphically than most of the British stoves, many of which scanted the decorative side.....
No graphics on that new stove, though!

Thought I would revive this thread for the moment as I may have something to add. I picked up a Hipolito locally here the other week and heres what I have to offer. The Hipolito is also equipped with a Patria regulated burner. The gentleman I bought it from said it was sold as a marine stove that fit into a seaswing styled gimbal, which he no longer has. It was bought through Force 10 (as he remembers.....) Perhaps Force 10 purchased a number of Hipolito tanks and set them up for marine applications??? Not sure if this info is of any help.

Hi there. Just search internet about this stove and drop here. Here is my 5 cents :)
I just bought an old sailboat from 1965. It came to my country from Swiss and looks like most of the equipment is from that time. There is also hipolito stove fixed in boat gimbal. As the sailing season is over in here I took the stove out and learning how to start it (it is my first time to handle cerosine stove). It is in a excellent condition. Here is the low quality photo but I'll send another later.
