My hands were never warm enough to make fuel come out of the tank and fill the priming cup. Since you have a lot of Methanol you can use a dash of that for priming and conserve the expensive Coleman white gas. Get a small Nalgene bottle, maybe with a flip top, 2 - 6 oz and keep that as your Priming Alcohol bottle. Then you can still use the white gas for priming in a pinch. Zippo lighter fluid is also Naptha but over $3 for a 6 oz flask. I can't believe Coleman fuel is so expensive in Canada. Do they sell Crown Camp fuel there? Also Naptha, it's usually half the price of Coleman's. Walmart item.
I kept the valve closed while my hands warmed the tank. Then relied on the small pressure to get just enough fuel to light. Then that small flame heated the tank. And so goes the story. Not filling the dish.
Naptha is not only getting spendy, it’s getting more difficult to find, it used to be a staple at most any roadside convenience store. Not any longer. I gave up years ago and simply run automotive gasoline in the appliances. I run them a lot. Meths or Alcohol for priming will take a lot of the hair-shirt element out of the whole affair, as it is sooty when priming.
Agreed. My above method is for when priming other ways are not available. Puffing up tank, by mouth, works too.
Thanks you all for your comments and recommendations. I yet have to get "white fuel" - just have to get to the store.... Thanks @OMC for the details/confirmation and the link to the manual! That's great! I'll report back once I have the new fuel and was able to make it work. Cheers!
In Sweden(and many other countries) we usually substitute the insanely expensive imported "Coleman fuel" with "lawnmower fuel"(clean fuel for small 4-stroke gasoline engines) that works very well in most gasoline burners and use to be just about twice the price of automotive fuel. I've seen Coleman Fuel in swedish shops priced equal to 20+US$/1USqt(slightly less than 1 liter) a few years ago.
