How are you shaving down the bottom part to fit inside the spring? My NRV doesn't have the brass pip holder. I guess I could use a razor blade and just take little chunks off at a time. Is there an easier way?
I cut off the spring-part and a very thin "whole diameter part" from the original pip, and let this part sit in the spring. Then I don't need the brass pip-holder.
I was actually thinking about doing something similar when I posted this. Does the new pip just sit on top of the old or do you attach it somehow? Any concern with the new part accidentally flipping as the valve opens and closes while pumping?
Ditto what threedots said. The pip holders from The Fettlebox work great with the existing spring and a flat pip. At least in Svea 123/Optimus 80 and similar applications.
