At Newark last year I picked up Trevor's old Valor Packaway from David Shouksmith & have used it a lot for outside cooking on campervan trips. On a recent trip I was on a campsite & spotted a couple with an old tent & a 1958 MG car camping nearby (last pic below). They were cooking on a modern gas cartridge stove which seemed a little incongruous. I introduced myself & offered them the gift of the Packaway. The couple, a bit older than myself knew the workings of such old stoves, especially the wife & the husband especially was keen to take me up my offer. They are from the Netherlands so Trevor's old stove will be going abroad. I have other items of Trevor's as keepsakes & I thought it fitting for it to continue it's travels. I know Trevor would approve.
Very nice of you Ross! Looks like they have a 'De Waard' tent. One of the oldest tent makers in the Netherlands and is advertised to be able to weather a storm on the beach. So a period correct car with the tent and now they have a period correct stove. Well done.

Fantastic, people after my own heart. I'd be interested to know if that is a DeWaard- I like the big ones, but they are huge and take ages to put up. As an aside, I've always fancied a Magnette- a Perkins Prima turbodiesel is a descendent of the BMC B series and would slot in with very little modification. It would be quicker, and likely good for around 70mpg.... fantastic vintage caravan tug potential
I always feel inexplicably drawn to those old Magnettes! my own experience of the Prima TD in my old Maestro was that it went through more head gaskets than I could cope with, although when it was running, if I drove it carefully it could get over 70mpg.
I've still got 2-3 more Packaways from Trevor's collection which I can't get rid of - he must have had a 'thing' for them...
@David Shouksmith Put me down for one then please. I have a 1960s caravan- a budget model which came without a gas cooker as standard- and a Packaway would be period correct and the right character. It's a British stove I bizarrely don't have an example of, it would be nice to have another fitting home for one of Trevor's.
