This is a 1984, unused, triple fuel, silent burner, Optimus No.111 Hiker, in box (Optimus International).

I have dated it to 1984 because of the stamping on the underside of the box lid; other information on the box; and the specific features of the stove.

The stove is unused. It may have been test fired but I don’t think so due the the state of the burner and components.

It won’t be used as I have others.

    Features of the stove:

    • Label on lid with three fuels
    • Filler cap and SRV (square key)
    • Two-hole restrictor.
    • The tin itself (clip and handle).

    Features of the stove:

The box has the Optimus address as Upplands Väsby. Optimus moved from there in 1983, so if I’m right about this stove being 1984, it would be use of existing material (the stamp on the inside of the lid is not from the printer of the box).

Nice find, Tony. What modifications would be necessary to run such a 111 on alcohol?

To run on alcohol requires the use of the air restrictor (pictured above).

To run it efficiently with alcohol requires a change of nipple (that has a larger jet).

    From the instructions:
    2025-05-25 13-31.jpeg

    “USING ALCOHOL (METHYLATED SPIRIT)
Remove the outer cap. Place the restrictor in the centre tube of the burner. Replace the cap.
When using alcohol as fuel, Restrictor No. 5163 must be fitted (see picture). For regular use of alcohol we recommend changing the nipple in order to reduce the cooking time by the half. Nipple No. 2508 for alcohol and Nipple Key No. 5164 can be ordered from your Optimus dealer.
NOTE! Nipple No. 2508 must not be used for kerosene (paraffin) or gasoline (petrol).”

    Cheers

Back in the mid-'90s, when a favorite local Tucson camp/surplus store, ''Bob's Bargain Barn,'' folded from chain competition, I bought some stuff with the 50% off going on -- French Foreign Legion canteen, Danner Boots, and a weird Optimus Parts kit for the Eleventy-One. I only owned a Svea 123 at the time, but the Flame Spreader looked usable, so I got it.
So if I ever get a 111T, I'll be set up for <Spiritus> conversion. It has the 5163 Air Restrictor, not sure about the 2508 Jet.

I know I'm a little late posting to this but very nice stove! I've been trying to date mine and it matches yours exactly, down to the mismatch between the o-ring pump rod in the stove and the instructions showing a leather pump cup.

I've read the 111T (Hiker) production started with a leather cup, they switched to the o-ring design, then switched back to leather cup. Was there a year or number of years for a transition period where stoves had the o-ring pump rod but leather cup parts schematic?

    Thanks
