Hey all, long time no talk. I puchased a powermax stove and realized that the o-ring that should reside in the stove connector is missing. Example here ( the black rubber o-ring in the middle) Does anyone know of a source or dimensions of the ring? Thanks!
A good auto parts jobber will sell an entire kit with a multitude of sizes for not too much money, probably comparable to buying a single packing plus shipping. As an added bonus you’ll never be lacking for other projects.
Unfortunately I've now realized it's not an o-ring, it's more of a rubber sphere with a flat side and a hole drilled through it. My only hope probably is that someone who has modified their Powermax stove on this forum to use another fuel might have a "probe seal" or two they can spare.
EDIT: Holy moly, incredibly there is someone selling multiple of the maintenance kits that photo above is from, on ebay for 1/3 the price it was new! Just bought 2! They have 6 left (3 x 2 pack) Maintenance kit 9730-5811
@skorpiius Just be aware that on most of the Powermax stoves that is not an O-ring, but a rubber ball with a hole through it. You can find maintenance kits on ebay occasionally. Just search Coleman Stove Trail Maintenance Kit 9730-5811 lot of 2 and you will see some for sale right now. If you get the wrong size, you'll immediately know it when you hook up the cannister. Mike
Yes, that was a whirlwind of emotion, a potentially unusable stove to a cheap fix in just minutes. I think it shows how much people have abandoned the format being that spare parts are available and at a discounted price. Which makes sense with the fuel situation.
It didn’t look like any o-ring in the pic to me, but I figured you knew what was needed. Gotta love proprietary obsolete components!
