Hi All, Just picked up and old Primus Stove at a garage sale and not sure what the following 'codes' and numbers engraved on the stove are: Stove Primus No.1 SV. No. 48624 ENG. No. 171536 and under the stove: Z29 It would be wonderful if someone could enlighten me on the above?
Welcome, @AndyAdelaide. The Z indicates that the stove was made in 1935: Primus Dating Chart 1911 - 1964 29 is an unknown manufacturing code of some sort. 48624 is a Primus Patent number; and I think 171536 is also. No.1 is the model number (fitted originally with a roarer burner). Cheers Tony
Welcome. Yes, as Tony says the numbers are patent numbers. 48624 is the Swedish patent number for the recessed filler while 171536 is the English number. The recessed filler patent prevented over filling the stove. Even with the fuel filled to the top there was still some room for air space in the tank. @AndyAdelaide. @Tony Press
Hi Tony, Thank you for your prompt and informative reply. Not sure what it's working condition is, I am looking forward to see whether I can fire it up in the day or two. Kind regards, Andy
@AndyAdelaide First you should replace the fuel cap seal. Then ensure the jet in the nipple is clear. You’ll need a 0.32 pricker or a fine wire <0.32mm. You may need to do much more than that, and there are good resources here to work out what to do. Also, we’re quite good at answering questions. Cheers Tony
