    I own a 1932 Rolls-Royce 20/25 H.P. 6 Light 4 Door 'Touring' Limousine that I take to shows with original 1930's picnic paraphernalia.
I have original 1930's Director chairs, a fold up picnic table, a picnic set in a hard case, a 1930/31 HMV 101 Portable Gramophone, an early Monitor paraffin cooker in it's case and a beautiful Marris Ltd SIRRAM KETTLE SET 102.

This is probably the finest SIRRAM 102 set out there and is absolutely complete with it's 12 component parts:
    1. Main Case
    2. Main Case Lid
    3. Spirit Burner
    4. Spirit Burner Lid
    5. Spirit Storage Container
    6. Spirit Storage Container Cap
    7. Kettle Body
    8. Kettle Body Screw on Lid (usually missing (with it's orange rubber seal))
    9. Tea Leaf Infusion Basket
    10. Tea Leaf Infusion Basket Lid
    11. Kettle Spout Screw on Lid (usually missing (with it's orange rubber seal)
    12. Double-sided Instruction Card. (This is usually always missing)

The Main Case has retained about 95% of it's original silver paintwork.

This is a fine example of the Main Case Lid. It is finished in a quite rare 'Gold Chrome' . This was achieved by a process known as 'Candy painting'. A chromed/nickel plated version was painted with an opaque layer of Candy Gold and then finished and dressed to give it a gold chrome effect. On the lid is stamped:

    SIRRAM
    KETTLE SET 102

    3 SPIRIT BURNER

The standard Spirit Burner as used in the 101 and 102 Kettle Set.

    4 SPIRIT BURNER LID

The standard Spirit Burner Lid as used in the 101 and 102 Kettle Set. A common missing item. Stamped in lid around top and bottom edge is:

    "SIRRAM"
    PAD-ATMOSPHERIC STOVE W4

    FILL UP WITH METHYLATED SPIRIT
UNTIL A LITTLE REMAINS ABOVE THE
    CENTRAL HOLES

Plain cap with no embossing or stamping.

    7 KETTLE BODY

This Kettle Body is in pristine condition apart from patina on the handle. It is the 'correct' 2 and 1/4 pint 102 kettle. This fills it right up to bottom of the neck ring and then I left it standing for around 30 minutes; no leaks. I have no intention of boiling it as it is for display with my above mentioned car. You wouldn't want to boil it, it would go everywhere! The 101 Kettle Set only has a 1 and 1/4 pint kettle. There are no markings stamped or embossed on this.

    7 KETTLE BODY INTERNAL

This kettle is pristine, internally, as well. It has had very little usage. In fact I only used Brasso wool, on the base, to clean off the slight sooting.

8 KETTLE BODY SCREW ON LID
8 KETTLE BODY SCREW ON LID.jpg

This lid screws onto the kettle to hold the Basket and Basket Lid in place during transportation. A very common missing item. It is embossed in the middle with:

    SIRRAM

    MADE IN ENGLAND
Around the edge it is stamped with:

    RELEASE SCREW (TOP EDGE)

    BEFORE BOILING (BOTTOM EDGE)
8A KETTLE BODY SCREW ON LID RUBBER SEAL
8A KETTLE BODY SCREW ON LID RUBBER SEAL.jpg

Looking at pictures of this, elsewhere, it appears to have the correct original rubber seal in this screw on lid.

    9 TEA LEAF INFUSION BASKET
    9 TEA LEAF INFUSION BASKET.jpg

Again, a pristine item. After you have boiled the 'kettle', you would put your required amount of loose tea leaves in this and place it in the now designated 'Tea-Pot'. You then wait for the infusion to take place whilst giving the strainer a 'shake' now and then, until you reached your desired 'brew' strength. A common missing item.

10 TEA LEAF INFUSION BASKET LID
10 TEA LEAF INFUSION BASKET LID .jpg

This lid fits quite tight in the top of the basket, which is what allows you to give the Basket a few 'shakes' to help tea leaves infuse the desired strength.

11 KETTLE SPOUT SCREW ON CAP
11 KETTLE SPOUT SCREW ON CAP.jpg

A nice condition screw on cap for the kettle/tea-pot spout. A very common missing item.

Rubber seal in the screw on spout cap.

This Instruction card is is nearly always missing and is very hard to obtain an original

This is the rear of the instruction card. (See alternative below).

I hope you have enjoyed looking through this post. I have done it fully detailed so that it can be used for reference. This is an in depth look at this SIRRAM 102 KETTLE SET so that people can see what to look out for if they are in the market to purchase one. My best advice is NOT to buy one without the instructions, if you are looking to build a 'complete' 101 or 102.

When I got mine, it was missing the screw top kettle lid and the screw on spout cap. I managed to get a very cheap 102 kettle that was missing the Basket and Basket Lid but the screw lid and spout cap were in fairly good condition. My set was then fully complete with all 12 pieces. Cost me £70 all in so I am well pleased.

Looking back through old auction house archives, I cannot find a complete outfit that had been sold, they were all missing at least one of the items mentioned in above picture descriptions.

Finally, I'll finish with a rear picture of an alternative instruction card that has information that confirms the pints capacity of the 101 and the 102 kettles.

Nice to see a complete set, and yes, a very good reference for anyone trying to complete a set.

I'm amazed that it's still in such good condition.

    What an amazing collection.
