Nope, but I am going to give it a try. No worries at all re the ‘Aussie’ toaster. Brought back good memories for me. @Stanisław Grajewski Thanks, it was good to see it in use. I am now keen to give it a go too. I recollect that at times they were too efficient as I recall scraping the toast a number of times. @Pharael Great to see who made them. Thanks for posting.
@Sedgman you are correct, toast can turn into carbon really fast if you have burner roaring and look away for a second! But, in my experience, those flat one with wires, you have to have burner roaring and they still make dry bread more than toast.
I have always had success with the Coghlan’s Camp Stove Toaster. The instructions are to have the centre of the toaster hot before adding the bread for toasting. I can see that adding the bread before this occurs will likely dry the bread before it is ready to brown. So I leave the toaster to heat up for a couple of minutes before adding the bread. One further point I would mention is that I only ever use a silent burner stove with the Toaster. Pharael.
I just ordered a stainless steel generic Coghlan’s Camp Stove Toaster from Amazon for $10. When it arrives I'll give it a try and report back. Ben
