I was offered today to purchase the machine shown in the attached images. Seems for an Italian company that was dissolved into another. I usually buy pump seals and occasionally use for leather a homemade mold, utilizing a type of piston and a thick ring after marinating the leather in water. I think the machine in the pictures will produce them efficiently with the appropriate mold. Do you have any suggestions for similar machines? had anyone found/ used a similar one? I'm seeking kind advices since the offered price isn't excessively high.
@kerry460 (RIP) used a bench press for making leather pump cups, and also leather pump cups with a rivet/eyelet inside. He used the same for placing eyelets on the large trucking tarpaulins he made. Tony
Thank you for the information @Tony Press. RIP @kerry460 . Note that the proposed one which I've mentioned above, deals with maintaining certain constant temperature as well, something that might not be needed for our limited use. Regards, Migwar
Hi, buddy. As for me, I once found a machine bearing with an inner diameter matching the diameter of the pump tube used in 1-liter stoves (17 mm). Since then, I have been forming cups for pumps in this type of stove. The molding is done wet from leather discs of the appropriate diameter, pressed into the bearing hole with an Allen screw (slightly filed down). After drying, simply knock out the hole of the appropriate diameter needed to attach it to the piston rod. And you're done. That's just my two cents. PS. You can get good quality leather (about 1-1.5 mm thick) from shoe uppers or old handbags sold at garage s. If you need to, you can invest in a specialized press for this purpose. We are just suggesting an alternative, simple solution Greetings Stanisław..
Thank you @Knee for sharing your experience. Indeed, simple solutions are sufficient. I also use a homemade mold, employing a piston and a thick ring after soaking the leather in water. I was offered to buy this machine today, and wanted to see if anyone has used a similar one before. As for necessity, I don't believe I will require it. Regards, Migwar
