The problem with third-party hosted photos and other links is they might not survive site or software upgrades. If I’m stuck like this I screenshot the image, then change it to *.jpg, usually by a simple edit. Then upload the jpeg to CCS. Tony
After running a lot of fuel through the Jim Dandy, I decided to try sweat soldering with it. Okay, I was bored and looking for something to do. I took a scrap piece of 26ga sheet steel and formed it around a scrap piece of 1" conduit(I don't throw anything away). This little booger is perfect for sweating thin material. It doesn't get too hot, fits comfortably in my hand, and does it quietly. I may have found a new favorite toy. As I haven't done sweat soldering in years, it kinda sorta looks like my first attempt as a freshman in high school shop class 55 years ago, but I couldn't peel this one apart, either.
I've always wondered how those Jim Dandy style torches worked. Alcohol jewelers torches specifically. I've been looking for something similar to it for a project of mine. I built an alcohol lamp but it doesn't get hot enough.
@Oldhenry1 I wish you luck in finding one. I've seen several come up on Ebay since I got mine, though, usually the older style. Mine has proven quite useful just this past week, sweat soldering the bung back onto a Little Injun Scout coil stove that suffered an 'incident' several years ago.
