Many of my vintage Primus 96 stoves burn green for a few minutes or so when first fired up since when. I’ve had this “W” dated 96 for a few years, no notes, so it must have been unfired when received so I left it as is. Going thru all my 96’s and this had issues. Changed out the deteriorating pump cup and substituted a oring shaft since I’ve run out of proper leather cups. Pumped up, but lost pressure. Looked at the fuel cap washer and it was hard. Anyway. Even with fresher fuel than what I have been using, the flames are still yellow. Must be quite a bit of residue from manufacturing and/or natural corrosion over the years. Have let the stove run for 15 minutes and is better. Surprised it is so slow to go over to a bluer flame. A first for me, the flame plate only wants to set in a specific spot, otherwise it doesn’t settle onto the bell in all the slots. Duane
Thank you Ken. No further change this afternoon. Maybe time to rinse with acetone or some carb cleaner. Duane
Patience. As a stovie, you already know that, at times, we all must suffer the less-than-perfect blue flame. Here's hoping the bit of yellow or red soon will pass. If not, well
