I held an overnight meeting with Japanese DIY stove enthusiasts. The other members were: @HONDA @tdn When I arrived, it was evening on the riverbank. We all lined up the lanterns and stoves we had brought with us. From the front, these are Mr.honda's stove*1, mine*2, and Mr.tdn's stove. *1 https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/2025-making-new-kerosene-stove-on-the-way.56895/ *2 https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/the-franken-stove-of-a-man-who-admired-optimus-no-9.56775/ Night has fallen. Another collector joined us, and we had a total of four people talking. My Radius No. 143 (with knob) is lit up. It's a lamp for ships. Mr.honda's stove Mr.tdn's stove lantern. Mr.tdn and I had fun burning our stoves together. It's past midnight so I'm going to bed. We ate shabu-shabu in the morning while keeping warm by our own stoves. We had a wonderful time on the riverbank with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. Thank you for reading to the end.
A wonderful display of top-class craftsmanship. It's clear that you are all enthusiasts. Thanks for sharing.
"Beyond spectacular!" is correct. Wonderful to see what creativity minds and talented hands can create. Real DIYers that don't ask questions.
How very, very wonderful! Pardon me if I'm asking stupid questions - I have been fiddling with Lamps for some time, but Stoves are very new to me. Am I right in thinking that some of the illustrated examples are Stove bottoms with Lamp tops? Fascinating if they are! Best Regards Mark
Beautiful collection of stoves, lanterns, and talented folks. I was following along on your Instagram, hoping to catch a glimpse of Mr.Honda's stove burning. Great photos.
I was surprised how much light the wick lamps appear to have . Even the hot blast lamps appear bright in the pictures , The ship lamp is very nice .Maybe you get a higher quality oil than here in the states . Mine never seem that bright . Thanks for posting
I have a German Feuerhand <<Baby>> that I fill with Kerosene from Walmart. I get about the equivalent of 60 watts incandesent with it up full. Dimmer if I use Lamp Oil, especially citronella. I'm in the US.
I'll leak pictures of Mr.Camp Numao. And the Japanese style soup he made was so excellent. We enjoid a lot! Regards HONDA
@Knee Thank you! We also talked about DEBA. Mr. Honda also said that DEBA's structure is interesting. @Ed Winskill Thank you for reading! @Daryl Thank you! It's just as fun to talk to other members who enjoy the stoves they made as it is to interact with everyone at CCS. @DanielS Yes, I can confidently say that it's great and fun. @snwcmpr I posted this because I thought it would be a great way to kill time for everyone.
@DirtWhiskey Thank you! Despite our differences in DIY skills, we all shared the same love for stoves. @pacerob Thank you! I would be very happy if you thought so after reading the article. @Mark Hodgson As you said, lanterns equipped with primus No. 5 equipped with sea anchor lanterns and Svea stoves equipped with bialaddin lanterns have been brought in. They made it themselves. @tdn @mulantern @GibsonsRavinePark2 I also love Honda's work. I heard from Mr. Honda that the type of stove that stores the tripod has never been lit since it was completed. Of course, it is functionally capable of lighting a fire, but he says he just doesn't use it because he has another stove. By the way, the title is ``A stove that can fry fried eggs even on rough roads.'' @SveaSizzler The monster didn't wake up, but the uninterested people around it may have found it annoying. @William Ritchie Thank you. It may be a problem with the way the photo is taken. In reality, pressurized lanterns are by far the brightest. However, the gentle light of the oil lamps soothed my soul. @HONDA This hot pot is a really delicious hot pot dish made by @tdn . The pork soup made by flaming my No. 12 was not good.
That looks like a great gathering. I'm in awe of people who can build such beautiful stoves and lanterns from sheet metal and a few spare parts. ....Arch
The camp meeting with two Japanese craftsmen, @Camp numao and @HONDA, was incredibly inspiring. I never truly understood the appeal of building a handmade burner until I made one myself. Getting it to burn properly required overcoming countless challenges, but the sense of accomplishment after finally completing it was amazing.
